How to Set Up Your Brochure Artwork
Follow these simple rules and your brochures will print sharp, true to colour and in the right order. Not sure your file is right? Send it anyway, every order includes a free artwork check.
Single pages, in order
Supply a print ready PDF at the finished size, with pages as single pages in reading order, not as spreads.
Pages in multiples of four
Saddle stitched brochures need a total page count in multiples of four, for example 8, 12, 16 or 20 pages.
Add bleed and margins
If colour runs to the edge, add 3mm bleed all round and keep key text inside a safe margin. Bleed guide
Fonts and images
Embed or outline fonts, keep images at 300dpi and flatten transparencies and layers to avoid surprises in print.

- Bleed, 3mm. Extend background colour and images past the edge.
- Trim line. Where your brochure is trimmed to finished size.
- Safe area, 5mm. Keep text and logos inside this line.

What is a saddle stitched brochure?
A saddle stitched brochure is made from printed sheets folded together and stapled through the spine, creating a clean and professional multi page format.
Do brochures need to be a multiple of four pages?
For saddle stitched brochures, yes. Each folded sheet creates four printed pages, so the page count needs to be 8, 12, 16, 20 and so on.
What is the difference between saddle stitched and perfect bound?
Saddle stitched brochures are stapled along the spine. Perfect bound brochures have a glued square spine, suit thicker page counts and are available from 40 pages.
What sizes can you print brochures in?
